Report Information

Observation Summary

See first photo of recent avalanche activity on the East face of Colorado Mines Peak. I presume these were wet slide from the previous day or 2. Recent avalanche activity on East face of Colorado Mines Peak on Berthoud Pass.

Also, obvious refrozen snow on South face of Mt Flora shown in the photos. And wind scouring along the ridge shown as wave like snow.

Interesting enough, it was windy all morning when I was out (6am-12:30pm) and never felt as warm as forecasted. Up until 12:30, the snow surface on all aspects had started to soften but was still pretty firm and had not turned to corn yet. Hope this helps.

Route Description

I climbed from Berthoud Pass main parking lot to the summit of Colorado Mines Peak and then to the summit of Mt. Flora. Very little snow on the ridge from Mines to Flora so it was mostly hiking in snow/dirt trails.
